Working with stock valuation, difference between standard and average purchase price and where do you set this?

MJA Updated by MJA

It is possible to calculate your total stock value in Newbase.

Determining the stock value can be set in 2 ways in Newbase:

1. based on the standard purchase price

2. based on the average purchase price

1. What is standard purchase price

A standard purchase price (SPP) is used to determine the stock value. The SPP can be entered on a product and is a fixed value that you must enter manually and can be adjusted.

To calculate the stock value, Newbase looks at the quantity stated in the technical stock.

2. What is the average purchase price?

With an average purchase price the stock value is calculated with the average of the purchase prices of the product.

This will be calculated at the time of locking a receipt.

This is particularly useful for products that fluctuate greatly in value, such as fruit and vegetables or USB memory.

Calculation:

The following calculation is performed to arrive at a new average purchase price:

(current technical stock * current gem ink price)

(number of receipt * purchase price of the receipt)       +

-------------------------------------------------- ------

addition / (current technical stock + number of receipts)

This produces a weighted average.

The average purchase price per unit only changes if it concerns a receipt for a stock order, so not if it concerns a receipt based on a sales order or a project.

The average purchasing price per unit is never influenced by goods issues or stock changes, only upon receipt or manual change (= stock revaluation).

3. Where do you set SPP OR average purchase price?

You can activate the ability to work with stock valuation at:

The owner module > Logistics settings widget > Stock valuation field.

Here you can choose Standard purchase price or Avg. purchase price.

Note: If you work with multiple companies in Newbase, you can have the above default setting, within the owner module, but make a different setting per company. Only if you share the product database between the companies is this not possible, then the valuation method you choose as owner applies to all companies.

If you work with multiple companies and you do not share the data and you want to set the valuation per company, you do this at: Module company > Select the relevant company > tab logistics > field Stock valuation

4. How can you set the SPP of a product?

4.1 Manual per product

If you manually enter a SPP for a product, you do this within the Standard Purchase price widget.

If the owner is set to work with SPP and no SPP has been set for a product, you can set within the company module that a SPP is automatically set for the product where the SPP field is empty. The field can be automatically filled with the purchase price of the first receipt.

You can complete the above at Company > Widget Company Logistics > Autoset. St. Pur. Price (SPP)

4.2 Copy purchase price from default supplier

You can copy the price from the default price scale of the default supplier within a product. To do this, use the option below.

Please note: this is not automatic. You must use the 'update fixed transfer price' option under product. You must first make a selection of products for which you want to perform this option and a purchase price must therefore be entered at the default supplier of the product. If the purchase price scale contains a different currency, it will be converted to the company currency. Click here for more information about this option.

If you do not have this option please contact your internal application manager.

4.3 Import

You can import the SPP with the import tool. Click here for more information about importing product data.
