What is return value?

MJA Updated by MJA

The return value is a number in the settings of value list that corresponds to a value. In the value lists itself you do not see this number but you see the corresponding text.

It is important to understand that Newbase saves the return value when using a value list, and not the text. That's because you can work with Newbase in multiple languages. If you were to change these numbers within the settings of the value list, a completely different description could suddenly appear.

This number may be needed when importing data or connecting an external application to Newbase through the API / web services instead of the value.

It is not wise to modify an existing return value. By adjusting this number, existing values can be given a different content.
